The Day Tomato Growers Took Note... August 23rd, 1997
At the Seaview Square Mall,
this was not going to be a typical day.
Somehow things were going to be different around here... and in only a matter of hours, this Mall by the Jersey Shore, and all who would visit it, would have the answer. |

As the program began, spectators sat and watched how the Internet was getting involved in the Finals of the 20th annual Tomato Weigh-In; but, this day on August 23rd, everyone knew that High Tech was not going to take center stage. |

The judges to include Dr. Vance Young (Ctr), NJ Dept. of
Agriculture and Richard Obal (R.) Mon. County Agriculture Agent were about
to officiate a record and witness how a talented grower can deliver a "big"
tomato on a specific day... today, August 23rd.

Yet I think there are two people who always knew that breaking Tomato
records is common for one special person. And these guys, the grand children
of Minnie Zaccaria, had no doubt that the "Tomato Queen" would
grow a record breaking 6.16 Lbs. Tomato.
Congrats Minnie!
